Our Story

In April of 1996 a prayer group formed in Ocean City, NJ to seek God about the birthing of a new church in Ocean City. About 6 months later that prayer group was introduced to Rev. Kevin Bernat Sr. and his wife Joanne. From that point on it has been one move of God after another which brings us to the present. The first official service was held on the Ocean City Boardwalk at the Flanders Hotel on April 6, 1997. The church met there until September 19, 1999 when we moved to 324 West Ave. in Ocean City. Praise the Lord!

This however is only the beginning of the story. Through God's providence, New Life Assembly purchased 8 acres of ground in Egg Harbor Township at 5071 Fernwood Ave. which was a former nine hole golf course. Plans were made to build a new sanctuary to meet the growth of God’s Kingdom. While building this new sancturary we began meeting in the Atlantic Christian School on February 27, 2005 which is located at 391 Zion Road E.H.T.

Finally the long awaited day of moving into our completed sanctuary arrived on June 14, 2008. What an exciting day that was!! All praise goes to the Father in heaven. We had our official building dedication on June 28, 2008. Who would have ever dreamed that not only would this little multi-cultural church ever begin, but be in the fine facility that God has provided and might I add “DEBT FREE”!! All glory to God. I’ll tell you who saw it, GOD!

And our story has continued as God opened additional opportunities. Following His lead, New Life Assembly has started on a building project in adding to our current campus. We are looking forward to adding another building with a gym, showers, and rooms to serve our community. The best part is that this addition is almost fully funded! God is good!

Through the years we have witnessed hundreds of people come to Christ and had their lives changed. We exist as more than a property, more than a building, but rather as the people of God. We feel as though in John 20:30 when John mentioned that Jesus had done so many miracles, that all the books in the world could not hold them! We have witnessed the lost saved, the captive freed, the lonely accepted, the broken healed, the destitute restored, and all by the power of Jesus Christ!

We are blessed and extremely thankful for all that God has done over the years and we look forward to all the wondrous things that are to come! Hallelujah!
